Interpret investor blocking eligibility release and transaction constraints

Decision and objectives
The practical task is to interpret investor blocking as an operational control rather than price protection. Make the decision reproducible: name the exposure, time horizon, cash requirement and comparison baseline before selecting a product.
Objectives: Interpret investor blocking as an operational control rather than price protection; Plan release and member synchronization before a sale; Verify current instrument eligibility and corporate-action treatment.
Prerequisite: C5T7L2; completed Classes 1–4 and the Stock Market School foundation or Forex School foundation. Every example is hypothetical. Prices, dates, rates, fees, contract factors, policies and tax schedules are supplied teaching inputs, not current offers or legal parameters. No live account is needed.
Mechanics
Investor blocking restricts outgoing security movements through the applicable custody system. It does not insure market price, issuer repayment or intermediary service continuity. An investor can still hold economic rights such as distributions under the relevant terms, but selling or delivering blocked units generally requires the appropriate release and synchronized available balance.
The current MKK blocking page and older official manuals differ in their listed exclusions. This draft therefore does not present an old list as a timeless eligibility rule. Check the current page, instrument class, member implementation and any later notices for the actual account. Investor blocking, pledge, legal seizure and trading prohibition are different restrictions with different release authorities.
Price and return drivers
Under the supplied disjoint records, free units after a completed release = prior free + units released. Available-for-sale quantity additionally depends on settlement and member status. An accepted instruction or a registry release timestamp is not necessarily proof the intermediary has refreshed its trading balance. A block can prevent an unauthorized movement without changing any price loss.
Worked case
Hypothetical 1,000 settled shares, 700 investor-blocked and 300 free. Intended sale 500 requires at least 200 released; investor releases 250, leaving 450 blocked and 550 free once the member confirms synchronization. Sell 500 at TRY 20 with TRY 50 total fee: cash receivable TRY 9,950 under the supplied settlement date. Remaining security quantity is 500, comprising 450 blocked and 50 free. A separately payable TRY 2/share distribution on all 1,000 before sale would be TRY 2,000 if entitlement is established; blocking does not itself erase the stated entitlement. It also does not turn the sale receivable into immediately withdrawable bank cash.
Adverse case
If MKK release is recorded but the member still shows only 300 free, the 500-share order is unsupported by the member's current balance. Ask for refresh/confirmation or move the sale date; do not submit repeated orders that can later duplicate fills. In a separate pre-release 20% bonus-share scenario, 700 blocked become 840 and 300 free become 360, total 1,200, assuming the stated pro-rata treatment. The larger count is not a 20% wealth gain without the corresponding price adjustment.
Practical use
Use current MKK service channels and ask the member about synchronization and operational deadlines. Real release and block timing is changeable; no learner is asked to operate an account and no specific live clock window is tested. Preserve release confirmation and subsequent member/custody records. Include custody, sale/transfer fees, settlement delays, funding needs and dated taxes where relevant.
Use permitted domestic access routes and the actual instrument documents. Verify intermediary authority, investor eligibility, order/redemption terms, settlement, custody and executable size before implementation. Reconcile spread and commissions, funding, collateral, custody, product expenses, conversion and exit charges; an amount already embedded in a fill or fund unit price is not deducted again. A published mark or product description does not promise an executable price or liquidity.
Tax is excluded unless a numerical schedule is expressly supplied as hypothetical. For actual rules record income year, residence and individual/corporate status, instrument and acquisition/contract dates, taxable event and rule effective date. The GIB investment-income guide, checked 2026-10-26, covers 2025 individual income; its 2026 publication date alone cannot settle a 2026 liability.
Decision boundaries
Blocking fits an investor-control objective for eligible holdings, not a liquidity or downside guarantee. A sale plan must include release early enough for confirmation and settlement. Defer a transaction if the block type, release authority, eligible instrument or receiving/trading balance is uncertain.
Practice and references
Exercise: hypothetical 600 units, 400 blocked and 200 free; planned sale 350. Solution: minimum release 150; releasing 180 yields 380 free and 220 blocked. After a confirmed 350-unit sale, 30 free plus 220 blocked = 250 remain. At TRY 12 sale price and TRY 30 fees, cash receivable is TRY 4,170 on the supplied settlement date.
Takeaway: Verify current instrument eligibility and corporate-action treatment with the cash dates, costs and remaining risks stated.
